Single purpose: Total Recall Clipboard provides a local browser clipboard memory so users can save, search, review, edit, archive, copy, export, back up, and restore clipboard-related content from Chrome.

Local-first design: Saved clipboard items are stored locally in the user’s browser using IndexedDB and Chrome extension storage. The extension does not sell user data and does not transmit saved clipboard history to a developer-operated remote server.

Important: Clipboard content can be sensitive because users may copy anything. Users should turn off auto-save or add blocked-site rules for websites where they do not want content saved.

📌 Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to the Total Recall Clipboard Chrome extension and its optional local native messaging helper if the user chooses to install and enable that helper.

This policy does not control the privacy practices of Chrome, the Chrome Web Store, Blogger, Google, the user’s operating system, or third-party websites visited by the user. Those services may process data according to their own privacy policies.

Total Recall Clipboard is not a cloud synchronization service, account service, advertising network, analytics tracker, or remote content hosting service.

🧠 What Data the Extension Handles

Total Recall Clipboard handles data only to provide the user-facing clipboard memory features described in the Chrome Web Store listing and inside the extension interface.

1. Saved clipboard and page content

Depending on the user’s actions and settings, the extension may save or process:

• Selected webpage text saved by the user.
• Copied browser text detected while auto-save is enabled.
• Copied links or URLs.
• Rich HTML clipboard snippets copied from webpages.
• Copied images, pasted images, image data, or image URLs.
• Right-clicked image URLs or image review drafts.
• Manual notes, titles, comments, edited text, and user-created saved entries.
• Source page title, source URL, website domain, field label, content type, and timestamp associated with a saved item.
• Archive status, selected-item state, and item metadata needed to display, search, filter, export, back up, restore, or delete saved items.

2. Extension settings and preferences

The extension may store settings selected by the user, including:

• Auto-save clipboard on/off state.
• Content-type preferences for text, links, images, and rich HTML.
• Allowed-site and blocked-site rules.
• Duplicate detection, minimum text length, review-before-save, incognito skip, and private-field skip settings.
• Forced right-click image prompt setting.
• Image preview blur setting.
• Theme, card density, source icon visibility, default view, default sort, and sidebar batch size.
• Backup reminder, cleanup, storage, and export preferences.
• Local settings lock information if the user enables the PIN lock feature.

3. Optional native clipboard helper data

If the user separately installs and enables the optional local native messaging helper, the helper may read clipboard text or PNG image changes from the operating-system clipboard and pass that data locally to the extension so it can be saved according to the user’s settings.

The native helper is optional. The extension can still be used without it.

4. Data that may be sensitive

Total Recall Clipboard does not intentionally target sensitive categories such as health information, financial information, passwords, government ID numbers, precise location, or private communications. However, because the extension saves clipboard content chosen or copied by the user, saved items may contain sensitive information if the user copies or enters it.

The extension includes settings intended to reduce accidental saving of sensitive content, including private-field skipping, incognito skipping, allowed-site rules, blocked-site rules, duplicate detection, review-before-save options, and the ability to disable auto-save.

🚫 What the Extension Does Not Do

• The extension does not sell user data.
• The extension does not use saved clipboard data for advertising.
• The extension does not use saved clipboard data for personalized ads, retargeting, creditworthiness, lending, or eligibility decisions.
• The extension does not require a Total Recall account.
• The extension does not intentionally collect passwords, payment card numbers, health records, government identifiers, or precise location.
• The extension does not upload saved clipboard history to a developer-operated remote server.
• The extension does not include remote JavaScript or remote WebAssembly code in its packaged extension logic.
• The extension does not allow the developer or other humans to read saved clipboard items unless the user voluntarily shares specific information for support or disclosure is required by law.
• The extension does not track general browsing history for advertising or behavioral profiling.

🔎 How Data Is Collected or Created

Total Recall Clipboard handles data through user-facing extension features:

• Manual save: The user clicks New comment, Save clipboard, Backup, Restore, Export, or another visible extension control.
• Right-click capture: The user selects text or right-clicks an image and uses Total Recall capture or review features.
• Auto-save clipboard: If enabled, the extension can save supported browser copy and cut events according to the user’s settings.
• Clipboard API detection: The extension can detect some webpage clipboard write operations to support the clipboard memory feature.
• Sidebar review drafts: The extension may temporarily store a pending draft while the user reviews a capture before saving or discarding it.
• Optional native helper: If installed and enabled, the local helper can pass operating-system clipboard text or image changes to the extension.

Copies made inside Total Recall Clipboard itself are ignored by auto-save where possible to prevent duplicate saved items.

🛠️ How Data Is Used

The extension uses saved and processed data only to provide or improve its single purpose: local clipboard memory and saved-item management.

• Save clipboard-related content requested or enabled by the user.
• Display saved items as cards in the sidebar and saved-items page.
• Search saved titles, comments, source URLs, page titles, and saved fields.
• Filter saved items by source, type, active/archive status, and other local metadata.
• Edit, copy, open, archive, restore, delete, or bulk-delete saved items.
• Create local backups and restore from user-selected backup files.
• Export saved items to XLSX, JSON, CSV, or HTML according to the user’s export settings.
• Show source favicons and source labels so users can identify saved items.
• Apply user preferences, site rules, privacy settings, and UI settings.
• Prevent duplicates and reduce accidental capture of private fields or incognito content when those settings are enabled.

💾 Where Data Is Stored

Saved clipboard items are stored locally in the user’s Chrome browser profile, primarily using browser IndexedDB. Extension settings, preferences, site rules, and pending local state may be stored using Chrome extension storage and local browser storage.

Backup and export files are generated locally and downloaded by the browser to the location selected or configured by the user.

The extension does not maintain a developer-operated database of saved clipboard history.

Device security matters: Anyone with access to the user’s browser profile, device, exported files, or backup files may be able to access saved clipboard items. Users should protect their device, browser profile, and backup/export files.

🔁 Data Sharing and Transfers

Total Recall Clipboard does not sell, rent, trade, or transfer saved clipboard history to advertisers, data brokers, analytics services, or other third parties.

The extension may interact with third-party websites only as needed for user-facing features. For example, if the user saves or reviews an image from a website, the browser may request that image URL from the source website so the extension can display or save the image. The source website may receive normal web request information from the browser, such as IP address and request metadata, according to that website’s own privacy policy.

Users may choose to export, back up, copy, download, upload, email, publish, or otherwise share their saved items. Those actions are controlled by the user and may be governed by the privacy practices of the destination service or recipient.

Information may be disclosed if required by applicable law, legal process, or to protect against abuse, security threats, or fraud, but the developer does not operate a remote saved-clipboard database to disclose.

⏳ Retention and Deletion

Saved items remain in the user’s browser storage until the user deletes them, clears the extension data, clears browser data, uninstalls the extension, changes browser profile, or uses cleanup settings that remove older items.

• Users can delete individual saved items.
• Users can bulk delete selected saved items.
• Users can clear saved items.
• Users can archive or restore items.
• Users can configure cleanup and maximum item preferences when available.
• Users can remove allowed-site and blocked-site rules in Settings.
• Users can disable auto-save clipboard at any time.
• Users can uninstall the extension to remove extension-managed local data, subject to Chrome’s storage behavior.

Backup before uninstalling: Chrome may remove extension local storage when the extension is uninstalled. Users should download a JSON backup before uninstalling, resetting, or changing browser profiles if they want to keep saved items.

🔐 Security

Total Recall Clipboard keeps saved items local to the user’s browser profile and does not transmit saved clipboard history to a developer-operated server.

The extension relies on Chrome’s extension security model, browser profile storage protections, operating-system protections, and user device security. The extension does not guarantee that local browser storage, exported files, backup files, screenshots, copied data, or downloaded files are encrypted or inaccessible to other people with device access.

Users should avoid saving highly sensitive content, should disable auto-save on sensitive websites, and should protect any exported or backup files. Users should keep Chrome, their operating system, and the extension updated.

http://*/* and https://*/* content scripts	Used so packaged extension scripts can run on regular webpages where users copy, select, right-click, or open the sidebar. This supports browser copy detection, selected-text capture, image review, forced right-click image prompts, and the in-page sidebar.

🌐 Website Content and Web Browsing Activity

Total Recall Clipboard may handle webpage title, webpage URL, website domain, selected page text, copied page text, copied links, image URLs, and related saved-item metadata when needed for user-facing clipboard memory features.

The extension does not collect general browsing history for advertising, behavioral profiling, or sale. Page URLs and titles are stored only when they are associated with content the user saves, reviews, copies, or enables the extension to auto-save.

• Users can turn auto-save clipboard on or off.
• Users can choose which content types are saved.
• Users can use allowed-site mode or blocked-site rules.
• Users can enable or disable forced right-click image prompts.
• Users can enable or disable image preview blur.
• Users can edit or delete saved items.
• Users can archive and restore items.
• Users can export or back up saved items.
• Users can remove the extension from Chrome.

👶 Children’s Privacy

Total Recall Clipboard is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the extension stores user-selected or copied clipboard content locally, parents or guardians should supervise use if a child uses the browser profile where the extension is installed.

🤖 Automated Decisions, Advertising, and Sale of Data

Total Recall Clipboard does not use saved clipboard data to make automated decisions about users. It does not use saved data for creditworthiness, lending, employment, housing, insurance, eligibility, personalized advertising, retargeting, or behavioral advertising.

Total Recall Clipboard does not sell user data.

🧾 Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure

Total Recall Clipboard’s use of user data is limited to providing and improving its single purpose: local clipboard saving, searching, review, editing, copying, archiving, exporting, backup, restore, and related user-facing settings.

The use and transfer of information received from Chrome extension APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

• User data is used only for the extension’s disclosed user-facing clipboard memory features.
• User data is not sold.
• User data is not used or transferred for personalized advertising.
• User data is not used or transferred to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
• Humans do not read saved clipboard items unless the user voluntarily shares specific information for support, disclosure is required by law, or access is necessary for security or abuse investigation.

🧩 Remote Code Statement

Total Recall Clipboard’s extension logic is included in the packaged Chrome extension. The extension does not load remote JavaScript or remote WebAssembly code to run extension functionality.

The extension may open user-saved links or fetch user-selected image/content URLs as part of user-facing save, preview, copy, or restore workflows. Fetching a user-selected content URL is not used to execute remote extension code.

📤 Backups and Exports

Backup and export files may contain saved clipboard content, links, image data or image URLs, HTML snippets, timestamps, source URLs, page titles, and other metadata selected by the user’s export settings.

These files are created locally and downloaded by the browser. Users are responsible for storing, deleting, encrypting, uploading, emailing, or sharing these files safely.

🧑‍💻 Support Requests

If a user contacts support, the developer may receive the information the user chooses to provide, such as email address, screenshots, browser version, extension version, website URL, issue description, and reproduction steps.

Users should not send passwords, payment details, private messages, confidential documents, or other sensitive saved clipboard content unless they intentionally choose to share a specific item for troubleshooting.

⚖️ Legal and Safety Disclaimers

• This policy is intended to explain the extension’s privacy practices and does not limit rights users may have under applicable law.
• Total Recall Clipboard is a clipboard memory and organization tool, not a secure password manager, medical record system, financial record system, legal archive, or compliance storage system.
• Users are responsible for ensuring they have the right to save, copy, export, and reuse content captured from third-party websites.
• Third-party websites may have their own terms, copyright rules, privacy policies, and technical restrictions.
• The extension may not work on all webpages because Chrome and websites can restrict extension scripts, right-click menus, clipboard APIs, embedded frames, image access, and cross-origin content.
• No method of local storage or electronic processing is completely secure. Users should avoid saving highly sensitive content and should protect their devices and backups.

❓ Privacy FAQ

Does Total Recall Clipboard send my saved clipboard history to a server?

No. Saved clipboard items are stored locally in the user’s browser. The extension does not upload saved clipboard history to a developer-operated remote server.

Does the extension collect user data if everything is stored locally?

Chrome Web Store policy treats local handling of user data as something that must still be disclosed. Total Recall Clipboard discloses local handling of saved clipboard content, page metadata, settings, and backups even though it is local-first.

Can saved clipboard content include personal or sensitive information?

Yes, if the user copies or enters personal or sensitive information. The extension does not target those categories, but clipboard tools can store whatever the user chooses or enables the extension to save.

Can I stop the extension from saving on certain websites?

Yes. Users can disable auto-save or configure allowed-site and blocked-site rules in Settings.

Can I delete my saved data?

Yes. Users can delete items, bulk delete items, clear saved content, remove settings, clear browser extension data, or uninstall the extension.

What happens if I uninstall the extension?

Chrome may remove extension local storage. Users should download a backup first if they want to keep saved items.

Does the extension use analytics or ads?

No analytics service or advertising service is used to collect or monetize saved clipboard history.

Does the optional native helper change privacy behavior?

If installed and enabled, the optional local native helper can read operating-system clipboard changes and pass clipboard text or image data locally to the extension. It is optional and should be enabled only by users who want system clipboard monitoring.

📝 Changes to This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated when the extension changes, when Chrome Web Store requirements change, or when privacy practices need clarification. The effective date at the top of the policy will be updated when material changes are made.

If the extension introduces materially different user data practices, those changes should also be disclosed in the extension interface, Chrome Web Store listing, or other appropriate notice before or at the time they take effect.
